At JB our Board-Certified Behavior Analysts offer support not only for our students but also for our teachers and our parents. We are always excited to share tips and tricks from our BCBAs with you, check out this behavior byte and learn a little more about our BCBA at JB Lyndhurst, Tyler Bond.
Tyler’s Behavior Byte:
Prompting Hierarchy is used to help students learn and use new skills in a systematic way. This approach helps to decrease frustrations and provide the students with opportunities to complete the skill on their own. There are two ways to implement the prompting hierarchy, Most-To-Least, and Least-To-Most.
Most-To-Least is used when the skill is new and more intervention is needed to teach the skill.
Least-To-Most is used after the skill has been learned and the student is working on mastery and generalization.

Verbal prompts although not as intrusive as Full Physical are much more difficult to fade and therefore can lead to prompt dependency when overused. Verbal prompts should really focus on responses that require a verbal response. For example, when asking a student “what is your name?” a verbal response is more effective and easier to fade than when a student is using the bathroom and is prompted verbally to “wash your hands”.
Learn a little more about Tyler
Tyler comes to us from Canton, Ohio! He received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll and his Masters from the University of Cincinnati. Tyler enjoys cooking and shopping for kitchen gadgets. When he’s not helping students at JB, Tyler and his wife stay busy, as they have two children under two! This past summer, we were so grateful to have Tyler working as our BCBA at Beyond Camp. We are blessed to have him as a member of the JB family and our students, faculty & staff, and families definitely learn a lot from having him around!
