All of the teachers and staff at JB are patient and willing to take the extra time to make sure we, as parents, understand and are comfortable.

Take the Next Step
We’re delighted that you’re considering Julie Billiart Schools for your child. We’re coeducational, K-8 day schools in Akron, Lyndhurst, and Westlake for children with learning differences. We promise to walk hand-in-hand with you through the process of visiting, exploring, and applying to your campus of choice.
The admission process at Julie Billiart Schools ensures that we reach the students that need us most and are likely to benefit from our whole-child approach to learning. Working hand-in-hand with parents, intervention specialists, administrators, and therapists, we assess each applicant to determine if JB can benefit that child.
Student assessments include academic history, teacher recommendations, achievement tests, admission assessment, and interactions with current teachers and students. We strive to ensure an excellent match between our school, the students, and the families we serve.
Julie Billiart Schools offers rolling admissions, which means that as we have openings, we will accept applications and admit qualified students at any point in the school year. Tuition is prorated to the time of enrollment. Note that some campuses have a waitlist for certain grades. We encourage you to apply as soon as you’re ready so that we can begin to process your application. Applications are reviewed in the order in which they’re received.
Please don't hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you at any point through the admissions process. Find answers to common admissions questions here.
Our website and social media channels are excellent resources for prospective families. Explore a day in the life of a student, learn about our campuses, and check out our curriculum for the grade you’re interested in. You can also request more information about Julie Billiart Schools, here. Or, schedule a call with an admissions representative by emailing admissions.
Attend an Admission Info Session
No words, or even photos and videos, can adequately describe the JB Way. Meeting our faculty and staff, chatting with our Principals, and touring our sensory-friendly classrooms helps parents see the true value in a JB education. We hold dedicated Admissions Info Sessions multiple times throughout the school year and we encourage all interested families to attend. The information presented at all sessions is the same regardless of which campus you attend. JB is proud to offer the same supports and services at all of our campuses. You are welcome to attend any of the events that fit into your schedule.
Applying for admission is easy and fast using our online application. There is currently no fee to apply. In the application, you will be asked to upload your child’s full IEP and ETR. Your application cannot be reviewed without the IEP and ETR. If you do not have these items, or if your IEP or ETR are out of date, please reach out to us. It’s important that you remember your username and password in the event that you need to leave and/or revisit your open application.
Continue a Current Application
As soon as your application is complete, you'll receive an email confirmation. Our admissions team will review your child's completed application and documents and your child will be invited to our next Screening Activity.
We encourage you to consider possible openings at other JB locations, as all JB schools offer the same supportive environment for children with learning differences.
When your application is fully submitted, you'll be invited to a Screening Activity. We hold multiple screening days each year. Our highly qualified Screen Team, composed of Intervention Specialists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Behavior Analysts, and Administrators, work together to engage your child in a warm, friendly school setting. We explore your child's academic abilities through developmentally-appropriate tasks and assessments to better understand your child's academic levels. The most important part of our screening is the social and emotional component, as we want to ensure that Julie Billiart Schools has the appropriate supports in place to help your child thrive. We do not expect perfection and understand that students come to JB with a wide range of academic and social skills.
What Happens at a Screening Activity
Receive determination
Within a week of the Screening Activity, Julie Billiart Schools will notify you of our determination.
If we have the services in place to support your child and we have an immediate opening in the grade level/campus you requested, we will reach out to schedule a meet and greet and an acceptance meeting.
If we can support your child but do not have an immediate opening in your grade level/campus, we will notify you of this and add your child to our waitlist. We will share with you if we have any openings at our other campuses.
If we do not have the services in place to support your child, we will notify you and offer as much assistance as possible as you look for other options.
Families using the Jon Peterson Scholarship are invited to apply for need-based financial aid on a first-come basis. After your child has been accepted into Julie Billiart Schools and a spot is available for him/her, we will share the financial aid application as part of the enrollment process. Families accessing the Autism Scholarship will not need financial aid, as the Autism Scholarship covers our entire tuition. We will work with you to complete the Autism or Jon Peterson Scholarship at the time of acceptance.
Welcome to the JB Family! We look forward to providing a warm, nurturing, and educational environment for your child for years to come.
If you have questions about the admissions process, please contact Admissions. Thank you for joining us on this journey. We hope that your child finds a home at Julie Billiart Schools.
