I don’t think I will ever be able to put into words how grateful I am that you saw my daughter for all that she is today and all that she is yet to become.

Save this for a rainy day! The summer is full of sunshine and outdoor activities, but we know every day isn't going to have clear blue skies. Some days it’s just going to rain and you may need to find an activity to keep everyone active and having fun. Spending time together in the kitchen is a great way to get everyone involved in a group activity while learning something new. Whether it is making chocolate chip cookies, baking brownies, or toasting cinnamon rolls, cooking together can help beat those rainy day blues. Here is an easy recipe you can try in your kitchen!
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour properly measured
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Microwave the butter for about 40 seconds. The butter should be completely melted but shouldn’t be hot.
In a large bowl, mix the butter with the sugars until well combined.
Stir in the vanilla and egg until incorporated.
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mix the dough until just combined. The dough should be soft and a little sticky but not overly sticky.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Scoop out 1.5 tablespoons of dough (medium cookie scoop) and place 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until cookies are set. They will be puffy and still look a little underbaked in the middle.
Let cool for 5-10 minutes and then enjoy!
We hope you find fun ways to connect as a family with this fun indoor activity. If you make these, take a photo and share them with us! This sweet treat is sure to bring the whole family together.
