I don’t think I will ever be able to put into words how grateful I am that you saw my daughter for all that she is today and all that she is yet to become.

Low student-to-teacher ratios of 6:1 in grades K-2 and 8:1 in grades 3-8 enable our interventions specialists to adapt their lessons and teaching methods to meet the individual learning needs of each student regardless if they have autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, ADD/ADHS, or other specific academic or social challenges.
Speech, occupational, music, art and behavior therapists blend their onsite services seamlessly with our academic and social curriculum, providing the consistency and predictability that is often critical to children with autism.
As providers of the Autism Scholarship, Julie Billiart Schools is an affordable private school option for children that qualify with an autism diagnosis. Offered through the state of Ohio, the scholarship covers a portion of your yearly tuition.
All teaching staff at both Julie Billiart Schools are certified intervention specialists and have additional training and experience working with children that learn differently. They understand the academic and social needs of children with autism and other learning challenges which provides insight as to how each child learns. All intervention specialists are skilled in a number of teaching methods and styles in order to accommodate a variety of learning styles.
Teachers, therapists, administration and staff work as a team to ensure students are growing academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally. Parents are also given support to ensure this whole child approach to learning is continued at home and outside the classroom.
Subdued lighting, flexible seating options and carpeted flooring create a warm and soothing classroom where students are encouraged to move about, collaborate and discover.
All classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art Activ boards that create interactive opportunities to encourage learning, play and collaboration. Students also work with iPads and Chromebooks for in-class and at-home work assignments. Our goal is to help students with varied learning abilities develop academic and social skills both inside and outside the classroom.
The family like atmosphere at both Julie Billiart Schools campuses includes furry friends! Sydney at our Akron school and Dexter in Lyndhurst are therapy dogs who provide comfort to students during periods of anxiety or stress. Earned time with the dogs also serves as an incentive for students as they work towards various goals. We’ve witnessed the effects Dexter & Sydney have had helping students with autism and other learning disabilities – from expanded language and vocabulary skills to increased self-confidence and social skills.
JB is not a “one-size-fits-all” school – our mission is to help identify students who can be best served by our individualized teaching and therapies. If you think Julie Billiart Schools may be a match for your child, learn more about our admissions process, then contact us today or register for our next Interested Parent Open House!
