Leadership at JB Brecksville: Meet Alyssa!

We are excited to expand the amazing team at our JB Brecksville Campus. Our new Assistant Principal, Alyssa Szpalik M.Ed., is looking forward to bringing her JB experience and special education expertise to JB Brecksville to help all of our students and families!

Get to Know Alyssa!

Alyssa graduated from Ashland University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Intervention Specialist. After graduation, she taught 1st grade at St. Edward School in Ashland and soon realized that her true passion was special education. From there, Alyssa taught special education preschool in Colorado before joining the JB Family in 2018 as a 2nd-grade Intervention Specialist at Julie Billiart School Akron.

At JB Akron, Alyssa also taught 5th grade while earning her master's in Educational Leadership from John Carroll University. She served as the Assistant Principal and Director of Special Education at the Akron campus for the 23-24 school year before accepting the opportunity to spread the JB Way at JB Brecksville.

What does Alyssa love about JB?

JB creates a unique learning environment that focuses on the whole child. Students do not just learn and grow in academics, but socially, emotionally, and spiritually. They make sure students are prepared to be well-rounded citizens when they leave JB. Each campus is a tight-knit community that recognizes and celebrates student successes as well as noticing and addressing areas of need.

Her favorite thing about being a part of the JB community are the relationships that she has built over the years with both students and staff. When students she’s previously taught stop by her office, say hello in the halls, or stop her to chat it always makes her day.

What is Alyssa looking forward to?

She is excited to bring her experience and ideas from her time at JB Akron to Brecksville and share The JB Way! All JB Schools are very special places that empower both students and families to meet their greatest potential. She can’t wait to be part of the team and create a JB culture at our newest location.

We are so excited to have Alyssa join the JB Brecksville team. We know her presence will be missed at JB Akron, but we are thrilled to have Jenna Gissinger fill the role of Assistant Principal and Director of Special Education.
