Growing Beyond Camp: Julie Billiart Schools Is Proud to Expand Award-Winning Summer Camp Program to all JB Campuses

Beginning in the summer of 2023, Julie Billiart Schools will proudly open Beyond Camp at all three JB locations: Akron, Lyndhurst, and Westlake.

Beyond Camp is an award-winning summer camp option for children in grades K-9 (ages 5 to 14) with special learning and social needs. Beyond Camp is staffed by highly experienced intervention specialists, a speech/language pathologist, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Camp is held in person at each campus location.

Due to the expansion of Beyond Camp, JB has hired a team of new on-site camp directors as well as a new Director of Student Programs. This Director will ensure that the amazing experience campers have come to expect will be offered at all campuses.

Jason Wojnicz, Principal of JB Akron, has been promoted to Julie Billiart Schools’ Director of Student Programs. This is a new role for the growing community of schools. As Director of Student Programs, Wojnicz will oversee JB’s Beyond Camp, which recently grew from one location to three. He will also manage student support services, data collection, curriculum development, and all extracurricular programming.

Amy Nelson, a 2nd-grade intervention specialist at JB Akron, will serve as JB Akron Camp Director. Heather Clink, a Registered Behavior Technician at JB Westlake Campus, will serve as JB Lyndhurst’s Camp Director. Emily Scheppner, a 2nd-grade intervention specialist at JB Westlake, has been named JB Westlake’s Camp Director.

While fun and full of social activities, this therapeutic camp is a specially designed, data-driven experience that measures growth, development, and mastery of new skills. Beyond Camp is strategically structured and staffed to help prevent summer learning loss and promote social skills and academics through community-based experiences.
