I don’t think I will ever be able to put into words how grateful I am that you saw my daughter for all that she is today and all that she is yet to become.

Take the Next Step

JB alumnus, Jenna Winkelman, is one step closer to making her dream become a reality. This month, she will begin her Ph.D. program, the final step in her educational journey.
“I’ve always felt like giving back to the doctors who helped me out,” she says.
As a child, Jenna didn’t speak until she was six-and-a-half years old. She spent a great deal of time with doctors and therapists in her younger years.
Jenna was recently accepted to Fielding University where she will study Clinical Psychology with a focus on autism and a better way to diagnose trauma in non-verbal individuals. Although the University is based in California, Jenna will be completing the five to six year-program online.
“I’m excited to gain more social skills and professional skills to do research and work with clients,” states Jenna.
Her goal after completion of the program is to obtain her Ph.D. and open her own office in Northeast Ohio. She aspires to diagnose children and help parents advocate for their children.
Jenna received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Psychology in 2017 from Cleveland State University. She then went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2019, also from Cleveland State University. Jenna is a member of Golden Key International Honour Society. She is a 2012 graduate from Lawrence Upper School in Sagamore Hills.
Prior to Lawrence, Jenna attended Julie Billiart Schools’ Lyndhurst Campus from sixth grade to eighth grade. She has great memories of her time at JB. She chuckled as she recalled being part of a spelling bee tie-breaker competition in the eighth grade, where she ultimately received first place!
In reflecting on her time at JB, Jenna states, “I no longer felt alone that I had a learning difference. I felt like there were other people like me that needed help with their education. It really impacted me. It’s a great school for children.”
In her spare time, Jenna enjoys art and playing video games. She also likes to spend time with her younger brother and her parents.
