I don’t think I will ever be able to put into words how grateful I am that you saw my daughter for all that she is today and all that she is yet to become.

Take the Next Step
We believe that school is only as effective as a child’s ability to participate, explore, and enjoy it. That’s why we employ certified Occupational Therapists (OTs) at each JB campus. OTs evaluate, treat, and accommodate occupational needs for kids in grades K-8.
Julie Billiart Schools' Occupational Therapists are licensed professionals with experience helping children develop the skills needed for participation in their daily activities of play and self-help. Occupational Therapists concentrate on areas of development such as:
Students learn techniques to become self-advocates. OTs work with kids one-on-one and in group settings to develop positive coping methods. By better understanding their own sensory needs and triggers, students are better equipped to ask for what they need and anticipate and respond to environmental or internal situations.
Students emerge as highly-organized, thoughtful planners. OTs, alongside our certified intervention specialists, teach executive functioning skills from an early age. Executive functioning is taught and reinforced from an early age so that kids learn how to take notes, prioritize and record homework, stay organized, and pack and prepare the right materials for school and home.
Students improve fine motor skills like handwriting. Both in and out of the classroom, our OTs address handwriting needs, including pressure on writing utensils, grasp, pace, and dysgraphia (challenges with motor and information processing skills).
Occupational Therapy sessions are conducted in a variety of settings, including our OT gyms, sensory areas, the child’s classroom, or during a group art or physical education activity. Our inhouse OT gyms are equipped with suspended swings, therapy balls, and a variety of therapy tools, toys, and games.
In addition to direct treatment, our OTs collaborate with intervention specialists, onsite Speech Therapists, Art Therapists, Music Therapists, and of course, parents. As with all of our onsite therapies, Julie Billiart Schools believe that parents play a critical role in the progress of their child’s occupational development. Our therapists engage in frequent contact with parents to reinforce goals and activities in the home. As a team, we work to ensure all kids are getting the most from their school and home environments.
