Take the Next Step

For children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a typical classroom environment can be extremely challenging. Sitting still, listening quietly, and concentrating can make every school day a struggle. Perhaps even more frustrating is that most students with ADHD want to learn. Neurological deficits, not unwillingness, make it extremely difficult for these students to learn in traditional classroom environments.

Julie Billiart Schools' small class sizes and 1:6 or 1:8 teacher-to-student ratios are just two examples of how we designed our learning environment to foster success for our students with ADHD. Our licensed intervention specialists assess each student’s abilities, discover how they learn best, and then - with a team of special education professionals and therapists - create an individual learning plan that meets the child’s specific academic, social and emotional needs.

How Students Excel

ADHD is a neurological condition marked by several types of behaviors including difficulty focusing, hyperactivity, and restlessness. While not considered a learning disability, it can interfere with a child’s ability to learn and often co-exists with specific learning disabilities like dyslexia, dyscalculia, or dysgraphia.

Julie Billiart Schools’ have created learning environments that are strategically designed to meet the unique needs of students with ADHD. Classrooms painted in calm, soothing colors, flexible seating options, and a variety of manipulative tools and equipment are always available to help students stay focused and reduce anxiety.

Conventional Subjects, Unconventional Approach to Learning

Accredited by the Ohio State Department of Education, our curriculum includes language arts, math, science, social studies, art, and music. As part of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, all students also attend religion class.

Flexible and unique teaching techniques are used by our intervention specialists to help build students’ self-esteem and confidence that ultimately reduces their fear builds trust and encourages them to take academic risks and work beyond their comfort levels. Frequent breaks, prompting, and visual reminders are just a few methods used by our professional staff to help students reach their goals, develop new skills, and feel accomplished.

Great Communication and Solid Foundation for Students & Families

Positive, collaborative relationships with our students’ families are the foundation of being responsive to their academic, social, and emotional needs. When teachers, administrators, therapists, and family members work together to ensure continuity and consistency, we see greater rates of success and development.

Your Child Has the Ability to Succeed

At Julie Billiart Schools, our students’ success is measured by more than a letter grade. It’s also about setting and reaching goals, learning to self-advocate, and finding self-confidence and awareness. We focus on the whole child and adjust our teaching to adapt to how they learn.
