Becky Busey Named Principal of JB Akron

The Julie Billiart Schools Network is thrilled to announce the hiring of Mrs. Becky Busey as the next principal of Julie Billiart School - Akron. Mrs. Busey joins JBA from Archbishop Hoban High School, where she served as Coordinator of the Pathways Program.

As leader of Hoban’s special education program, Mrs. Busey developed curriculum aligned with Ohio’s Extended Learning Standards and taught all core subject areas. She brings extensive experience with the IEP and ETR processes, including collaboration with public school districts, student goal-setting and family advocacy. Prior to her role at Hoban, she served as assistant principal at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.

Before relocating to Ohio, Mrs. Busey began her career in special education in 2008 as an Exceptional Student Education and general education teacher in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mrs. Busey earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Exceptional Student Education from Florida Atlantic University and University of Central Florida, respectively. She also holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from University of West Florida.

“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to work alongside such a collaborative team of administrators, intervention specialists and support staff to help our students grow and prepare them for success,” said Mrs. Busey. “I would like to thank JB’s leadership team - Mrs. Davis-Frecker, Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Kreger and Mr. Wojnicz for the opportunity to build upon the strong culture already in place and continue creating an environment where every child is loved, supported and accepted.”

Mrs. Busey’s official start date will be June 22, 2026. Originally from Northeast Ohio, she currently resides in Akron with her husband and daughter.
