Begindergarten Set to Start in Fall 2025

Julie Billiart Schools (JBS), a network of private, Catholic K-8 schools for children with learning and social differences, will expand their educational services with the addition of “Begindergarten” starting in the fall of 2025 at the Julie Billiart Brecksville campus.

Designed to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten, Begindergarten focuses on building essential skills and preparing students to successfully transition to a JB kindergarten classroom or one that best fits their needs. Begindergarten is a preschool-formatted program that offers a full day of learning and support for young children with social and learning differences. It introduces Kindergarten learning standards using innovative and differentiated methods that are closely aligned with the students’ needs.

“Since we opened our doors in 1954, and especially in the last decade, JB has made a significant impact on countless students and families,” said President/CEO Lannie Davis-Frecker. “Now, with the opportunity to reach and support more students at an earlier developmental stage, we celebrate an exciting milestone for Julie Billiart Schools.”

While similar to the traditional classroom, there will be impactful differences to help support the growth and development of Begindergarten students. In its first year, there will be a capacity of 10 students creating a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio with one Early Childhood Intervention Specialist, two Paraprofessionals, in addition to an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Therapist.

“Begindergarten gives us an opportunity to expand our services towards an even younger student population,” Chief Strategy Officer Jason Wojnicz said. “Research clearly shows how critical early intervention is and the impact it can have on a child's development.”

Enrollment for the inaugural Begindergarten class is now open and screenings are set to begin in early 2025.

Future plans for Begindergarten include a second Brecksville classroom and expansion to the other Julie Billiart School campuses.
