[Lyndhurst, OH, May 19, 2021] Julie Billiart Schools, a network of three special education schools in Northeast Ohio, will graduate a record number of students from their Lyndhurst and Akron campuses. Twenty-five (25) students between two campuses will graduate in two separate ceremonies for Julie Billiart Schools. JB Akron’s ceremony will take place Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. at 380 Mineola Ave. in Akron. JB Lyndhurst’s ceremony will occur Tuesday, May 31st at 6:30 p.m. at 4982 Clubside Road in Lyndhurst.

For almost 70 years, Julie Billiart School Lyndhurst has graduated up to 16 students each year. Since opening in 2017, Julie Billiart School Akron continues to educate and graduate more students. Julie Billiart Schools’ third and newest campus in Westlake will graduate students in 2023.

“Regardless of campus, age, or ability, every child within Julie Billiart Schools is given the opportunity and tools to succeed,” said Lannie Davis-Frecker, President and CEO of Julie Billiart Schools. “Graduation from our schools is a tremendous accomplishment. It means that our kids have worked extremely hard and been given the support and strategies they will need to succeed in high school and beyond. We are so proud of them.”

The graduates will move on to a variety of area high schools in the Cleveland and Akron areas next year. Many of the graduates come to JB as early as kindergarten or first grade. JB’s model is designed to provide students with learning and social differences and the tools to learn, grow, and advocate for themselves. JB aims to prepare students for a more typical high school setting.

“Seeing the growth that they have achieved is truly special,” said Jodi Johnston, Director of Academics and Teacher Development at Julie Billiart Schools. “Their success is our success. Their wins, in and out of the classroom, inspire us. I know our faculty and staff have prepared each and every one of our graduates for success. The entire JB community is rooting for them!”

“This is our first graduation ceremony at our campus and it’s definitely something I’ll cherish,” said Jason Wonicz, Principal of JB Akron. “I’ve seen how hard all of our students have worked and what they’ve overcome to get to this point. I’m just excited to see what they’ll do next.”

Next year, Julie Billiart Schools looks forward to celebrating graduates from all three JB campuses.

Julie Billiart Schools, a community of schools with campuses in Lyndhurst, Akron, and Westlake, strive to build self-confidence, inspire Christian values, and empower K-8 students with skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm for life-long learning. Small class sizes, onsite specialized therapies, and highly experienced intervention specialists are just a few ways that Julie Billiart Schools take students with high functioning autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties beyond education, and beyond expectations.

open-quote Julie Billiart Schools gave us hope after our daughter was diagnosed with a learning disability. At JB, she thrived in the small classes, received necessary therapies, and developed the self-confidence to ask for help when she needed it. close-quote
