Employee is eligible for mileage reimbursement for travel from primary "home" work location.

Employee Reports To: Director of Academics and Teacher Development with a dotted line to the Director of Student Programs.

Summary

Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Currently there are campuses in Akron, Lyndhurst, Westlake and soon to be Brecksville (open Fall 2024) that offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non-public schools that respect diverse faith traditions.

The School Psychologist provides consultation, psychological and psycho-educational assessments, and works with Julie Billiart (JB) Schools administrators and Districts of Service (DOS) to plan, complete and disseminate the Evaluation Team Report (ETR) Process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio School Psychologist license.
  • Master’s or Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in school psychology;
  • A 1200-hour internship
  • Passing the Praxis School Psychologist exam
  • Demonstrates the ability to access community resources appropriate to the needs of students.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties to be assigned as needed.   • Consults with JB School administrators to evaluate the ability of Julie Billiart psychology services to meet the needs of students. Upholds school policies and follows administrative procedures.
  • Works with the District of Service (DOS) as the overseeing entity during the ETR reevaluation process..
  • Promotes a favorable image of JB Schools.
  • Generates and interprets data on individual students’ interventions and programming purposes.
  • In collaboration with the DOS, monitors education laws, rules and regulations. Develops
  • procedural protocols necessary to comply with legislative mandates. Adheres to compliance timelines.
  • Advocates for children. Helps ensure that policies and procedures support non-biased assessment and program planning activities.
  • In collaboration with the DOS, obtain written consent of parents/guardians before assessment and program implementation.
  • Administers diagnostic tests and interprets results for the ETR team.
  • Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time.
  • Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Participates in programming to promote a safe, positive school climate (anti-bullying, PCM training,etc.).
  • Consults with parents on a regular basis (e.g. telephone calls, voice mails, emails, etc.).
  • Collaborates with teachers. Share knowledge and resources that enhance the educational process.
  • Helps staff address student concerns (e.g. excessive absences, at-risk behavior, mental/physical health, family/peer relations, vocational transition plans, etc.).
  • Take precautions to ensure student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised.
  • Participates in school events as necessary.
  • Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities.
  • Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct. Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
  • Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

Supervisory Responsibility

Under the direction of the Director of Academics and Teacher Development with a dotted lined to the Director of Student Programs:

  • Plans and organizes work assignments within the ETR process.
  • Provides instructions and communicates expectations to assigned staff.
  • Promotes teamwork and helps staff as needed to successfully accomplish delegated duties.
