The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) recently named Julie Billiart School, Lyndhurst as a “School of Excellence”. This recognition, the highest given to a private special education school by the organization, is awarded only to those that demonstrate exceptional dedication, commitment and achievement in the field of special education. “We’re thrilled to be recognized by NASET,” said JB, Lyndhurst Principal Jodi Johnston, “Our faculty and staff work incredibly hard to develop strategies and innovative techniques to promote successful learning for each of our students. Being named a ‘School of Excellence’ is truly a tribute to their dedication and commitment to our mission. I’m so proud for them.” Johnston continued. To be considered a “School of Excellence”, a learning institution must:

  • Employ special education professionals who are certified or licensed in their respective professions.
  • Educate students with disabilities and or disorders.
  • Be dedicated to meeting the individual and unique needs of their students.
  • Have a very small Staff/Student Ratio.
  • Serve a student age population between 3 to 21 years of age.
  • Provide various types of related therapies and services for their students such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy
  • Ensure that students receive a well-rounded curriculum to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Be in existence for at least 10 or more years.
  • Are open a minimum of 10 months out of the calendar year.
  • Seek to provide a multicultural environment.

open-quote They have all the resources necessary, specialized to the individual learning of each child, and the heart that goes with it. I don't think we would have stayed in Ohio if it wasn't for JB! close-quote

open-quote Julie Billiart Schools gave us hope after our daughter was diagnosed with a learning disability. At JB, she thrived in the small classes, received necessary therapies, and developed the self-confidence to ask for help when she needed it. close-quote
