Curriculum

Our social curriculum and one-of-a-kind learning environment differentiate Julie Billiart School from the rest.
 
CORE CURRICULUM

Religion: We follow the approved Diocesan course of studies, prayer services, and school masses.
 
Mathematics: Our classrooms use My Math, Number Worlds, and the Accelerated Math Program.
 
Reading: Students use Wilson Reading and Phonics, Sidewalks Reading Program, Reading A-Z, Accelerated Reader Program, and Learning Ally.
 
Science: We use a hands-on approach while following the state's standards.
 
Social Studies: We follow the state's standards and incorporate a Geography Club for Grades 5-8.
 
Technology Proficiency: Technology is used in every classroom to create an interactive learning experience across all areas of our curriculum.
 
Music: Weekly classes include music theory, vocal group singing, and music appreciation.
 
Physical Education: In-class groups include intramural team sports and an after school program.
 
Art Therapy: Individual, small groups, and classes aim to build life skills and to promote mental and emotional growth.
 
Speech & Language Therapy: Two full-time Speech Language Pathologists focus on improving pragmatic language skills while embedding a social thinking curriculum across all school environments.
 
Occupational Therapy: Our full-time licensed Occupational Therapist evaluates, treats, and accommodates our students.
 
Behavioral Therapy: Our full-time licensed BCBA provides behavior therapy and programming for students and staff.
 
COMPLETION OF THE CORE CURRICULUM

When students graduate from Julie Billiart School, all will have completed the elementary course of study certified by the State of Ohio and the Cleveland Catholic Diocese.
As a Catholic K-8 school for children with unique learning and social needs, Julie Billiart School is rooted in the educational principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame and welcomes diverse faith traditions since 1954.  Julie Billiart School provides catered, student-driven learning for children with high functioning autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences.
