JB Lyndhurst Featured Faculty
This month JB Lyndhurst is honoring 5th grade teacher and reading expert Deb Ganim. Ganim’s career at Julie Billiart Schools began in 2006. “The school held a close place in my heart after hearing from a close family friend (and alumni) about JB’s unique approach to learning.” said Ganim. “I knew then that I wanted to be a part of something that was making a positive difference.”
As a reading specialist at JB Lyndhurst, Ganim uses the
Wilson Reading System
program to bridge the gap for many of our students with reading challenges. “I would love to spearhead a phonemic awareness summer program at JB as means of avoiding summer learning loss for our struggling readers, especially those dealing with dyslexia.” said Ganim. She would also like to become an Phonemic Awareness Specialist to further assist students with reading challenges.
Ganim attended Lakeland Community College and graduated from Ursuline College. She lives in Willowick with her husband and two kids, Sam, a high school freshman, and Helaina who will be graduating high school this spring. She loves to cook, bake, garden and craft when she’s not in the classroom.
“Deb's kindness and willingness to help others is a shining example of the JB Way.” said JB Lynhurst Principal Jodi Johnston. “She strives to help her students learn the hidden curriculum and has a way of helping them earn all the unspoken ways to be a thoughtful and productive person. We are blessed to have her at JB.” Johnston continued.
BEYOND EDUCATION. BEYOND EXPECTATIONS.
